"I can't remember when I wasn't drawn to clay. I would dig up clay off of the beach near my grandmother's house near the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. It was very sticky clay, the forms I made would dry out in the sun, and most often crack."
I enjoy making useful objects- a cup you can hold and sip from, or a plate or bowl to eat the meal you just cooked. I feel connected to the people who use my work. The idea of connection- as remote as it is- gave me a lot of warmth during those quarantine days.
I hold a BFA from Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans where I was born and raised. After I discovered the wonderful world of Museums, I earned a MASA (Masters in Museum Studies) from The Southern University of New Orleans.
